Trail Check: Partridge Hills

As part of Freak Maps 2011 mapbook, Mountain Bike Vancouver Island, we’re doing a few “video trail checks” of local riding spots. This first one, Partridge Hills, is one of our favourite places to ride on Vancouver Island.

It’s all unsigned, rolling cross country riding. Flowy for the most part, it has amazing vistas, and Durrance lake is a great place for a dip after your summer ride.

We hope you enjoy the video above of Scotty hitting the trails at Partridge, and we’ll have the Mountain Bike Vancouver Island mapbook for sale in store by early June.

Please respect other trail users (these trails are NOT bike specific), and we’ll see you out there!

    Trail Check! I like.

This is great to see and a shame at the same time. Several years ago this area used to have the most pristine trails. Over this past winter its seen some significant damage from all the increased bike traffic. Better this kind of exposure though than videos of Shrew sliding through every corner up there and tearing up all the moss that was previously shown.

    Nice feature guys.

    Very slick and good information.

Damn, I miss these trails. Ride’em while you’ve got’em folks.

Looks like really nice trails, I prefer the more XC style stuff.

Hartland is fine even with my 29er but the trails there apart from N. Ridge /Daves/Fun line are short up and down. They are fun but lack flow. Partridge is awesome! Way longer trails with much more flow yet still have some sweet technical sections, just not the constant onslaught like Hartland. I was a bit surprised because Partridge seems to almost have more potential as a bike Park than Hartland. Too bad the private property is being developed. I heard Millstream used to have great trails until development.
