Hood River Oregon

I was lucky enough to spend a sunny scorcher of a weekend in Hood River, Oregon, aboard my Norco Range. The Post Canyon trails are fast, dusty and smooth. The lack of exposed rocks and roots (which I’m so accustomed to here on the island) made the climbs seem much more manicured than they actually were. Loops are short and plentiful; flowy bermed descents the reward for a hot climb up the sides of the exposed gorge.

While the Range is an excellent climber for its class, I felt a little like I had brought a bazooka to a derringer fight- the most high-speed and technical trails I could find in my short time there would have been ideal on a Norco Optic or Revolver. Still, high-speed descents are always fun on a bigger bike, and I’d rather be over-gunned any day of the week.

Now I load the Range back on my trusty Yakima rack and head up to Whistler for a few days of crazy Crankworxs action in the bike park and surrounding trails.
