Just looking at the results of the 2017 Bike To Work Week’s kick-off Commuter Challenge is impressive: Of the 19 registered teams, 17 cyclists beat their motorist counterparts, one team tied and one motorist won (see full list here >>).
Oak Bay Bikes’ 2 teams had 2 very different routes:
Ian & Susan started in Langford, Emma & Karl in Cadboro Bay.
Both cyclists arrived downtown at the corner of Fort and Blanshard first!
Ok, both were on e-bikes – but what difference does it really make?
You still have to pedal and change gears – and you still have to watch
out for traffic.
Bike To Work Week runs from Monday, May 29th, to Friday, June 2nd and will be all over town with Celebration Stations where participants can collect stamps for their passport.
Further, we are super excited to announce that the BC Public Service Agency has several “e-riders” on their teams – powered by Oak Bay Bikes. We are curious to see how they enjoy their commute on electric-assisted bikes. You can follow us and them via our social media.
During BTWW, Oak Bay Bikes will be all over the place – find us at the following Celebration Stations:
— Royal Roads
— Portage Park
— Oak Bay Municipal Hall
— Atkins Rd Park’n’Ride
— Victoria City Hall
— Switchbridge as well as we won’t miss the wrap-up BBQ in Saanich on Friday.
Come visit us, have your bike inspected, try an e-bike or just say hi.
