Huatulco Triathlon Race Report by Matt Sharpe

Nanaimo Build: Kona Operator

Nanaimo Build: Kona Operator

Kona launched the Operator platform last year and it’s been a super successful bike for them. It’s low slung, with a nicely tuned single pivot setup, and has oversized pivots and bearings so it’s not in the shop all the time for service. Kona bikes are available only at our...
The 2012 Norco Brand Book

The 2012 Norco Brand Book

Norco is really pushing it right now with some solid bike designs and a willingness to take risks. They’ve also put out a great little magazine-style “Brand Book” for 2012 which we’re really enjoying. Check it out here, and see if you can recognize any local spots/trails in there!

The OBB Westshore grand opening was a huge hit. We raised over $350 through the BBQ for Power to Be, a local adventure therapy group that Dan, one of the Westshore owners, used to be a part of. Their mission is “to enrich the lives of disadvantaged children and young adults” and they’re a great cause to support.

We also have a major 2009 Specialized sale on at both the Westshore and Oak Bay locations. Read on to see the details.

Specialized Air Force 3 helmet – ($60) $30

2009 Specialized Hardrock Sport Disc – ($780) $580

2009 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp 29er – ($2380) $1800

2009 Specialized Tarmac Comp – ($2900) $2300

Fine Print

Available at both the Oak Bay and Westshore locations. We have a good selection of sizes, but quantities are limited. When they’re gone they’re gone.

Hi, do you have a 09 stumpjumper 29er HT in a 19 or 21 frame on sale?

You mean the Stumpjumper Comp 29er (seen above)? We had a full range of sizes a few days ago when I checked last (that’s a yes). I’m not in the shop to check right now so give us a call when you have a chance (250-598-4111) and we’ll double check.

Hey Vicky, we have only one more large Vita left in stock at the Oak Bay location. Retail is $649, and they’re one of our most popular ladies bikes.

I’m happy to respond to all your questions here, but when it comes to specific stock questions it’s probably quicker to call the shop (250-598-4111).

What 2009 specialized road bike models do you have in a size 52?

  6. Brian @ Oak Bay Bikes says:

    Aug 6, 2010

I think we’re all out of 52cm 2009 Specialized bikes. I’m not in the shop at the moment so it might be worth it to call them up.

Otherwise, shoot me an email at brian@oakbaybikes.com with what you’re looking for and what your price range is, and I’ll try to come up with some options for you.

Do you have any smaller sizes left in the specialized tarmac?

  8. Brian @ Oak Bay Bikes says:

    Aug 19, 2010

No I’m sorry I don’t believe we do. We do have some Dolces (in both Elite and Comp) in 48cm/44cm, and possibly a higher end Amira in a 44cm.

I am looking for a desent entry level jump bike for my nearly 15 year old son, would like to stay under $1,000.00, can you suggest what I should be looking at? Also, is there HST now on everything too? Thanks, Ian… (p.s. we live beside your new Westshore location).

  10. Brian @ Oak Bay Bikes says:

    Sep 10, 2010

Hey Ian, they should have a couple options for you out there in the Westshore store; the most cost-effective option will likely be a Norco.

Their email is westshore@oakbaybikes.com and their # is 250 590 6960. And yes, there is HST on everything now.
